So you're having an Event . . . What about a video?
by Colin Webb

Video can and will complement your event. In addition, video will extend its value through the rest of the year and beyond.

Video has many opportunities for a business event. It documents important moments and shows where the company has been and where the company is going. A video can be a "thank you" to your hard-working employees and loyal customers who stand by you and keep you strong. Imagine receiving a video after an event. All those great memories will come flooding back and keep morale afloat.

But don't let the power of video end there. Use some of these clips in an informational video of your company. Besides demonstrating your product or service, show your audience you care about your employees, customers and community.

Similarly, fundraisers take advantage of video. After the event is over and the money raised, show all the participants a video of how they made a difference by reiterating the need and the benefits for the fundraiser. This is a helpful tool to keep the participants thinking of you for next year as well as a finding additional sponsors.

Videotaping your event has many positive possibilities. Guarantee your video will be a great return on your investment by following a few simple tips:

  • Humor - Never underestimate making people laugh. Have fun with your video and your audience will enjoy watching it. Sometimes you capture humorous moments at the event; other times you may need to be creative with some silly skits.
  • Keep it moving - Whether you are part of the MTV generation or not, quick paced programs like the news, movies and your favorite television programs grab attention. The worst thing possible is to bore your audience.
  • Get everyone involved - This cannot be stressed enough. Participants of the event will want to see themselves on a video, even if it is for a brief moment. Plus, the more people involved, the more they will enjoy and remember the event overall. Get short interviews, group shots and people having a great time to balance your successful video.

Take advantage of your next event, use video to its fullest potential and create more business with happy customers and employees.
